Forged and Welded Wedge Gate Valves

A forged and welded gate valve is a subtype of wedge gate valves distinguished by its method of manufacture. As opposed to a cast gate valve, the body of a forged and welded gate valve is constructed of forged parts connected by means of welding. Forged and welded gate valves generally have a smaller size and weight when compared to cast and wrought gate valves designed for the same conditions. That is why forged and welded gate valves are suitable for limited space conditions with a minimal number of pipeline supports. Forged valve body parts are finned for the resulting stiffening effect. However, forged and welded gate valves are not capable of withstanding high pressures.
Forged and welded gate valves are used for liquids and gases with temperatures up to +300°С. Materials employed for their construction are steel grades WCB, LLC, CF8, CF8M, AISI 304/316.
Forged and welded gate valves can be operated manually (by means of reduction gears) or electrically. The most common end connections used with forged and welded gate valves are flanged and welded connections. Flanges are manufactured in accordance with GOST 1218-80, DIN EN 1092, ANSI/ASME 16.5.
